Sauer equips Swedish stealth submarines
With Type A26, the next generation of submarines for the Swedish Navy, one more submarine class will be equipped with Sauer-Compressors. For the successor to Gotland class submarines, the defence and security company Saab trusts in the proven quality of Sauer’s WP5000 navy compressors for the onboard high-pressure air supply.
Featuring advanced stealth technology, the submarine will be almost impossible to detect. With the lowest structure borne noise and vibration on the market, the WP 5000 fits perfectly into this concept.
Measuring 63 m in length and 6.4 m in the beam, these submarines should be able to remain submerged for up to 18 days. They are equipped with a specially-developed, quiet Kockums Stirling AIP (air-independent propulsion) system, which is designed to enable silent operation for prolonged periods of time.
Deliveries for the two submarines are scheduled for between 2022 and 2024.
